If you love bold, smoky flavors, Paneer Tikka is one of the best Indian starters you can make at home. It’s spicy, juicy, and incredibly satisfying—plus, you don’t even need a tandoor to get that delicious, charred flavor.

The secret to great paneer tikka lies in the marination. Yogurt, spices, and a little oil come together to coat the paneer, making it soft inside and flavorful outside.

Ingredients

For Marination

  • 200g paneer (cubed)
  • ½ cup thick yogurt (hung curd)
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt (to taste)

For Assembly

  • 1 capsicum (cubed)
  • 1 onion (petals)
  • Skewers

How to Make It

1. Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, mix yogurt, mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, spices, lemon juice, and salt until smooth.

2. Marinate

Add paneer cubes, capsicum, and onion. Coat everything well. Cover and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (longer = better flavor).

3. Skewer

Thread paneer and veggies alternately onto skewers.

4. Cook (Choose Your Method)

  1. Pan Method: Cook on a hot pan with a little oil until slightly charred.
  2. Oven Method: Bake at 200°C for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway.
  3. Air Fryer: 180°C for 10–12 minutes works great.

5. Final Touch

Brush with a little butter and sprinkle chaat masala before serving.

Paneer is rich in protein and calcium, making this dish filling and nutritious. Grilling instead of frying keeps it lighter and healthier.

Spicy, smoky, and full of flavor, this Paneer Tikka is a must-try recipe that brings restaurant-style taste right into your kitchen.
