A fascinating fan theory suggests it may have transformed Spider-Man into something far more significant—a multiversal ghost.
At the end of No Way Home, Peter willingly sacrificed his entire identity so that Doctor Strange could repair the damage caused by the collapsing multiverse. While the spell erased everyone's memory of Peter Parker, some fans believe its effects went much deeper.
Instead of simply removing him from people's minds, the magic may have completely erased Peter's presence from records, history, and even the multiverse's ability to recognize him.
If this theory is true, Peter now exists outside the normal framework that connects realities together. In a universe where timelines constantly interact and influence one another, Spider-Man could become effectively invisible to the multiverse itself.
This could be a game-changing advantage as the MCU moves toward larger multiversal conflicts. Incursions happen when different realities collide after prolonged interference from outside forces. But if Peter cannot be detected by alternate universes, he may be able to move between realities without triggering these catastrophic events.
That would make him uniquely capable of gathering allies, transporting resources, or rescuing variants while avoiding the dangers that threaten everyone else.
The idea also creates a compelling path toward Avengers: Secret Wars. Rather than being pulled into the conflict by chance, Spider-Man's forgotten existence could make him one of the few heroes capable of operating safely across collapsing universes.
The very sacrifice that left him alone and forgotten may ultimately become the key to saving reality itself.
If Marvel chooses to explore this concept, Doctor Strange's spell may have unintentionally elevated Spider-Man from a neighborhood hero to the most important figure in the entire multiverse—turning his greatest tragedy into the ultimate advantage.
